I am writing this testimonial to express my full support for the Danish Countryside Chapel, despite not identifying as a religious person. My support stems from three key factors that have greatly influenced my relationship with Pastor Loren and my connection to our communities.
First and foremost, Pastor Loren and I have been close friends since 1985. Our friendship was forged during our time in the Future Farmers of America (FFA) as Southwest District officers. Throughout the years, we have remained of one mind, supporting and encouraging each other through various life experiences. Our friendship transcends religious differences, as we share a deep understanding and respect for one another.
Secondly, Pastor Loren and I both have a deep love for our hometowns of Elk Horn and Exira, Iowa. Although our towns are now united under one school district, we recognize the challenges brought about by external globalizing forces. We want to see our communities thrive and succeed, preserving their unique identities and traditions amidst the changing world. Supporting the Danish Countryside Chapel is a way for us to contribute to the well-being and growth of our hometowns.
Lastly, our friendship and shared values were greatly influenced by our late mutual friend and advisor, Professor Ted Solomon. Prof. Solomon, who identified as Methodist, Quaker, and follower of the old Native American religion of the Lakota Sioux, imparted to us the belief that "God is Everywhere." This profound understanding goes beyond religious boundaries and emphasizes the universal presence of a higher power, regardless of one's faith tradition. It has shaped our outlook on life and our commitment to fostering understanding and unity among different beliefs.
In conclusion, my support for the Danish Countryside Chapel is not solely based on religious conviction but is rooted in friendship, love for our communities, and the teachings of a remarkable mentor. I believe that by coming together, regardless of our religious affiliations, we can build a stronger and more inclusive community. Pastor Loren's leadership and the welcoming atmosphere of the Danish Countryside Chapel exemplify these values, and I am proud to stand alongside them in their mission.
