A Word from the Vine No. 148: The Hidden Truths - Revealing the Message

Grace and peace to you, dear friends, from God the Father and from His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. My name is Pastor Loren Christensen of Danish Countryside Chapel, and today, I want to delve into the hidden truths revealed in our gospel reading from Matthew 11:25-30. Let us open our hearts and minds to the profound message contained within these verses.

Jesus said, "I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned and revealed them to little children" (Matthew 11:25). Isn't it fascinating how the wisdom of God often confounds the intellectual pursuits of the world? The message of Jesus, the Son of God, was revealed to those with childlike faith, while the learned and arrogant failed to grasp its significance.

Jesus continues, saying, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light" (Matthew 11:28-30).

These words from our Savior carry immense comfort and hope. Jesus invites us to come to Him with our weariness and burdens, promising to provide rest for our souls. He offers an exchange—our heavy burdens for His yoke, which is easy and light. By embracing the teachings and example of Jesus, we discover a profound peace that surpasses all understanding.

But let us not overlook the significance of Jesus' miracles and His proclamation of the good news to the poor. The blind received sight, the lame walked, the lepers were cleansed, and the dead were raised (Matthew 11:5). Yet, despite these signs, many failed to recognize Him for who He truly was.

It is a tragedy when the very presence of God goes unnoticed. The world becomes consumed with its own pursuits and positions, blinding us to the divine. We mustn't allow pride or self-importance to hinder us from truly seeing and accepting Jesus as our Savior.

So, my dear friends, I implore you to open your eyes, open your ears, and receive the gift of salvation that Jesus offers. Accept the truth that He is the Son of God, the one who can bring rest to your weary soul. Take His yoke upon you, learn from Him, and find peace in His gentle and humble nature.

In closing, let us remember the greatness of John the Baptist. Jesus himself said, "Truly, I tell you, among those born of women, there has arisen no one greater than John the Baptist. Yet the one who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he" (Matthew 11:11). This humbling truth reminds us that even the least in the Kingdom of Heaven surpasses the greatness of John.

Thank you for joining me today. May the Lord bless you and keep you, may His face shine upon you and be gracious to you. May He look upon you with favor and grant you His peace.
