A Word from the Vine No. 176: The Power of Belief

Grace and peace to you, dear friends, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. I'm Pastor Loren Christensen, and it's a privilege to share the Word of God with you today in this, another episode of "A Word from the Vine." In this episode, "The Power of Belief," we delve into the heart of our relationship with the Almighty, as we turn to the words of the Apostle Paul in Romans 10:5-17.

In this passage, Paul takes us on a journey of understanding, where he lays out the profound distinction between righteousness through the law and righteousness through faith. You see, my brothers and sisters, trying to achieve righteousness solely through our deeds, our works, it's like chasing the wind. The law shows us our shortcomings, our need for a Savior. It cannot grant us salvation; it can only point us to the One who can.

As Paul writes in Romans 10:9, "if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." This, dear friends, is the heart of the matter – belief in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. It's not just about acknowledging facts; it's about embracing them with a heart full of faith.

Belief is a powerful force, a force that transcends mere acknowledgment. It's a connection that goes deep into our souls. When we truly believe in Jesus, something incredible happens – transformation. Our lives shift, our perspectives change, and our very souls find rest in the grace of God.

Through belief in Jesus, we're no longer bound by the constraints of the law. Our faith becomes our righteousness. It's a righteousness that comes from God Himself, a gift received through faith, as Paul explains in Romans 10:10. This gift is available to all who believe, regardless of their background, status, or past mistakes.

But this gift isn't meant to be hoarded. It's meant to be shared, proclaimed to all nations. Romans 10:15 beautifully echoes the importance of spreading the gospel, saying, "How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!" Our belief, our faith, drives us to share this life-changing truth with others, that they too may experience the salvation that comes through Christ.

Belief in Jesus breaks down barriers that divide us. It unites us under the banner of His love and lordship. As Romans 10:12 reminds us, "For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him."

My dear friends, let us grasp the power of belief. Let us not just walk through the motions of faith, but truly connect with Jesus Christ. Let our belief lead to transformation, to salvation, and to a burning desire to share the good news with others. May our lives reflect the profound truth of Romans 10:17, "So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ."

Thank you for joining me today. May the Lord bless you abundantly as you walk in the power of belief. In the name of Jesus, our Savior, I pray. Amen.
