A Word from the Vine No. 190: The Nature of Transformation

Dear friends in Christ, welcome back to "A Word from the Vine." I'm Pastor Loren Christensen of Danish Countryside Chapel in Exira, Iowa. Thank you for joining me.

Today, we embark on a profound exploration of a truth deeply embedded in our faith journey – the nature of transformation. As believers, we are called not to remain stagnant but to continually grow, learn, and evolve in our walk with the Lord. It is vital to grasp that the person we were yesterday is not the same as the one we are today, and assuredly not the one we shall become tomorrow. Let us embark on this transformative journey together, guided by the wisdom of Scripture.

In the words of the Apostle Paul in 2 Corinthians 5:17: "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come." These words affirm that, through our union with Christ, we are in a perpetual state of renewal, continually being transformed into something new, something more Christlike.

The Apostle Paul's assurance resounds in our hearts: "And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ." (Philippians 1:6) This verse reminds us that God is actively at work within us, skillfully guiding our transformation toward becoming more like Christ.

Paul's wisdom extends further as he urges us in Romans 12:2: "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect." Here, we are called to allow our minds to be renewed by the truth of God's Word, paving the way for our transformation into vessels of His perfect will.

In closing, dear friends, may we embrace this truth – that we are in a constant state of transformation through our faith in Christ. Let us be open to the renewing work of the Holy Spirit and eagerly anticipate the glorious journey of becoming more like our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Amen.
