A Word from the Vine No. 242: The Wisdom of the Humble

Welcome back to "A Word from the Vine." I'm Pastor Loren Christensen, and today, we'll take a closer look at the connection between expertise and humility. Our scriptural reference for this episode is Proverbs 11:2.

In Proverbs 11:2, we find profound wisdom: "When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with the humble is wisdom."

These words highlight the vital relationship between humility and wisdom. Those who approach life with humility are often more open to learning and gaining wisdom from experts in their fields.

Think about the most knowledgeable and wise people you know. Chances are, they are also the most humble. They understand that expertise is a journey, and there is always more to discover. They appreciate the insights of others who have dedicated themselves to their areas of knowledge.

Imagine a musician who, despite being highly skilled, continues to take lessons from a respected maestro. This humility allows them to refine their craft continuously and reach new heights in their music. They understand that there is no end to learning, even for the most accomplished.

Consider a leader who values the expertise of their team members. They encourage open dialogue and willingly accept guidance from their colleagues. This humility not only fosters a collaborative and innovative work environment but also propels the team towards success.

As we conclude, I urge you to reflect on the role of humility in your pursuit of wisdom. Are you open to learning from experts, or does pride hinder your growth? Remember that true wisdom often dwells in the humble, those who acknowledge that there's always more to learn.

Thank you for joining me on this episode of "A Word from the Vine." In our next episode, we'll look at the responsibility that comes with expertise and wisdom. See you then!
