A Word from the Vine No. 262: The Need for Public Order

Hello, dear friends. I'm Pastor Loren Christensen, and I'm delighted to have you back on "A Word from the Vine." Today, let's unravel a crucial aspect of our faith journey—why we don't exhort people to independently make the world right and the significance of maintaining public order.

Our biblical reference for today is Psalm 46:10:

“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations; I will be exalted in the earth!”

In a world often clamoring for action, Psalm 46:10 invites us to a profound truth—“Be still, and know that I am God.” This sacred stillness is not an endorsement of inactivity but a recognition that the battle belongs to the Lord. Beware, "be aware" of the dangers of zeal without knowledge, recognizing the need for discernment and humility in our pursuit of justice.

Consider the potential chaos if every individual pursued their vision of making the world right without guidance or understanding. The call to "be still" is a call to surrender our self-righteous impulses, allowing Christ to be exalted among the nations and in the earth. It's a reminder that public order is not antithetical to justice but a safeguard against the dangers of unchecked enthusiasm.

As we navigate these reflections, let's reaffirm our commitment to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. The need for public order stems from the acknowledgment that He, and He alone, does battle on our behalf. Zeal tempered with wisdom, humility, and a deep trust in Christ's sovereignty is the path to a transformative and ordered pursuit of justice. Join me in embracing the peace that comes from being still and knowing that He is God. This is Pastor Loren on "A Word from the Vine."
