A Word from the Vine No. 263: Knowledge from Outside, Not Inside

Updated: Nov 27, 2023

Greetings, dear listeners! Pastor Loren here, and it's a pleasure to have you with me on "A Word from the Vine." Today, let's delve into a crucial aspect of our spiritual journey—the pursuit of knowledge and the clarity that true wisdom, especially for salvation, comes from outside ourselves.

Today's scriptural refernces is from John 14:6:

“Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’”

Dive with me into the cultural currents that sweep us toward internal introspection. There's a prevalent narrative urging us to seek solutions and enlightenment within the recesses of our being. While internal reflection is a valuable practice, let's pause and recalibrate our compass. The ultimate wellspring of knowledge, particularly for matters as profound as salvation, is not hidden within the chambers of our consciousness. It radiates externally—it's found in the person of Jesus Christ.

Yet, as we tread deeper, we uncover a startling truth greater than any empty room could ever create, "There is nothing to find!" So in utter defeat, we turn toward the truth outside of our intellect that is the presence of almighty God made flesh, Jesus Christ. Our quest for understanding finally takes a divine turn as we redirect our gaze toward Christ, realizing that the path to the Father is illuminated by the presence of the Son.

In the vast landscape of life's questions, let's resist the gravitational pull toward introspection alone. Instead, let's venture into the realm where external meets internal, where the knowledge found in Christ intersects with the depths of our souls. This is not a dismissal of self-reflection but an invitation to a harmonious dance—a dance that acknowledges the profound truth that true knowledge, especially the knowledge that leads to salvation, is discovered in the person of Jesus Christ.

In our quest for understanding, let's redirect our focus to the One who declares, "I am the way." Jesus Christ invites us into a transformative relationship that transcends human wisdom. Instead of relying solely on internal musings, let's embrace the external truth found in Him. Join me in this journey of discovery as we explore the knowledge that comes from outside, not inside. This is Pastor Loren on "A Word from the Vine."
