A Word from the Vine No. 274: The Urgency of Spiritual Readiness

Dear brothers and sisters, this is Pastor Loren wishing grace and peace to you as we continue our Advent journey on "A Word from the Vine," fixing our gaze on the poignant words of 2 Peter 3:8-14. In this passage, Peter draws our attention to the urgency of spiritual readiness and the imminent return of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Peter, inspired by the Holy Spirit, unfolds a profound perspective on time as seen through the eyes of God. He beckons believers to be diligent, ever-prepared for the coming day of the Lord. The urgency resounds as we await the fulfillment of God's promises and the dawn of new heavens and a new earth.

Take a moment to reflect on your own spiritual readiness and the anticipation of Christ's imminent return. Consider the call to live lives marked by holiness and godliness, free from spot or blemish. Let this reflection penetrate your heart, prompting an examination of your habits, attitudes, and alignment with the righteousness of Christ.

As we eagerly await the glorious return of Christ, let this anticipation stir within you a commitment to live a life devoted to holiness and godliness. Embrace the transformative power of God's promises, holding fast to the hope that one day, righteousness will find its dwelling in the new heavens and new earth.

2 Peter 3:12 resonates with urgency: "waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be set on fire and dissolved, and the heavenly bodies will melt as they burn."

May this urgency propel us into a life of readiness, a life that awaits the fulfillment of God's promises with eager expectation. May we be found diligent, spotless, and aligned with the righteousness of our Savior. Amen.
