A Word from the Vine No. 328: Seeing Each Other in the Best Light

Hello again, beloved listeners. Pastor Loren Christensen here, and I'm thrilled to wrap up our series on the essence of true love on "A Word from the Vine." Today, our exploration takes us deep into the heart of enduring and hopeful relationships, inspired by 1 Corinthians 13:7 and Colossians 3:14.

In 1 Corinthians 13:7 (ESV), we read, "Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things." These words encapsulate the resilient nature of love, presenting a profound challenge and an even more profound promise. Love calls us to bear with one another, to believe in the potential for growth and transformation, to hope for a future filled with shared joys, and to endure through challenges.

Imagine a relationship where love is the guiding force, where each partner bears with the other's imperfections, believing in the possibility of positive change. It's a love that hopes for the best, fostering an environment where individuals can flourish and fulfill their God-given potential. In such relationships, endurance becomes a testament to the strength of love, allowing it to weather the storms of life.

Colossians 3:14 (ESV) reinforces this theme, saying, "And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony." Love is the binding force that harmonizes relationships. It's not a checklist of flawless attributes but an intentional choice to see each other in the best light. When we embrace this perspective, our relationships become a beautiful symphony, each note contributing to the perfect harmony of love.

Too often, we fall into the trap of viewing our loved ones as buckets with holes, constantly searching for flaws and imperfections. But what if, instead, we chose to see the best in each other? What if we approached our relationships with a mindset of love that bears, believes, hopes, and endures?

As we reflect on these scriptures, let's commit to becoming vessels of love. Let's choose to see the best in one another, fostering enduring and hopeful relationships that mirror the boundless love of our Creator. In doing so, we contribute to the perfect harmony of God's design for love in our lives.

Join me in this contemplation as we aspire to be beacons of enduring and hopeful love, becoming reflections of the divine love that binds everything together in perfect harmony.
