A Word from the Vine No. 35: Healing from Cruelty

Welcome back to "A Word from the Vine." In our previous episodes, we discussed the nature of human cruelty and the complex relationship between love and cruelty. Today, we'll focus on how to heal from the trauma of cruelty and find hope and restoration.

First, it's important to acknowledge the pain and trauma caused by cruelty. It's okay to feel angry, hurt, and even broken. However, we must also remember that healing is possible. We can seek help from trusted friends, family members, or professionals, and turn to God in prayer for comfort and guidance. Relevant bible verses include Psalm 34:18, which says, "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit," and Isaiah 61:1-3, which speaks of the Lord's healing and restoration for the brokenhearted.

In addition to seeking help, it's important to practice self-care and self-compassion. This may include setting healthy boundaries, taking time for ourselves, and engaging in activities that bring us joy and peace. It may also include forgiving those who have been cruel to us, although this is a process that can take time and may require professional help. Relevant bible verses include Colossians 3:13, which says, "Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you," and Matthew 6:14-15, which reminds us that if we forgive others, God will also forgive us.

Finally, we must remember that we are not alone in our healing journey. God is with us every step of the way, and we can find strength and comfort in His love and grace. As we move forward, we can trust that He will bring beauty from our brokenness and use our experiences to bring healing to others.

Thank you for joining us for this series on human cruelty and how to handle it. We hope that these episodes have been helpful and encouraging to you. Join us next time on "A Word from the Vine" as we explore another important topic from a biblical perspective. I'm Pastor Loren.
