A Word from the Vine No. 37: Facing Facts - What about when WE are wrong?

Welcome to "A Word from the Vine." Today's topic is about facing our flaws and moving forward towards a life of abundance. The reality is that at some point, we all realize that we are not the victims but the villains in our own lives. It's a hard pill to swallow, but it's the first step towards true transformation.

Jesus taught us that the villain is not just outside of us, but inside of us too. In Mark 7:21-23, He says, "For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person."

But the good news is that we don't have to be slaves to our flaws. In 1 Corinthians 10:13, Paul writes, "No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation, he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it."

So, how do we move forward and resist the temptation to be corrupt in the first place? We start by taking responsibility for our actions and seeking forgiveness from those we've wronged. We can also surround ourselves with accountability partners who will help us stay on track.

It's not easy to relearn how to live correctly in a world that encourages excuses and blame, but it's possible. We can start by renewing our minds and seeking God's truth in His Word. In Romans 12:2, Paul urges us to "not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect."

So, let us not be defined by our past mistakes and flaws, but let us seek God's truth and live life abundantly in a world that loves our sin. With God's help, we can overcome our inner villains and become the people He created us to be. I'm Pastor Loren, and this has been "A Word from the Vine."
