A Word from the Vine No. 49: Speaking Up: A Christian's Responsibility

Updated: May 10, 2023

Hello, my fellow Christians, and welcome to "A Word from the Vine." Today, I want to talk about a topic that has been weighing heavily on my heart lately. It's about our responsibility to speak up when we see things that are not right in the world around us. As Christians, we have a duty to defend the poor, the needy, and those who cannot speak up for themselves. Let us turn to Proverbs 31:8-9 for guidance on this matter.

In this verse, we are called to speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves. We must be their voice, their advocate, and their defender. It is our responsibility as Christians to uphold the rights of all who are destitute and to defend the poor and needy.

However, we often find ourselves remaining silent when we see customs, courtesies, and manners being cancelled, or when the world around us is collapsing. We think that it's not our place to speak up, or that we don't have the power to make a change. But this is not true. We have the power of the Holy Spirit within us, and we must use it to speak up for what is right.

Silence in the face of injustice is not a virtue, but a sin. We must not be afraid to speak up and take action against those who seek to harm others. It is our responsibility as Christians to be the light in the darkness and to defend the defenseless.

In conclusion, we have a responsibility as Christians to speak up when we see injustice and wrongdoing. We must be the voice for those who cannot speak for themselves and defend the rights of the poor and needy. Let us be courageous in our convictions, and not remain silent when we see the world around us collapsing. May God give us the strength and wisdom to always stand up for what is right.

Thank you for listening, and may God bless you. I'm Pastor Loren Christensen of Danish Countryside Chapel.
