A Word from the Vine No. 51: The Guilt of Silence

Good day to you, and welcome to "A Word from the Vine." As Christians, we have a responsibility to speak up and take action when we see injustice and calamities happening around us. We must reclaim our identities as followers of Christ and live out the values He has called us to uphold.

But what happens when we stay silent? When we don't speak up, we risk allowing harm to come to others and even ourselves. Our silence can lead to guilt and a sense of responsibility for the calamities we allowed to happen.

James 4:17 tells us that if we know what is right and fail to do it, we have sinned. As Christians, we are called to be agents of change and to stand up for what is right, even when it is uncomfortable or unpopular.

So let us not stay silent when we see customs, courtesies, and manners being cancelled or when the world around us is collapsing. Let us reclaim our identities as Christians and speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves.

Thinking back of our two previous episodes, may we be reminded of Proverbs 31:8-9, "Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy." And may we live out Romans 12:2, "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind."

Let us be agents of change and speak up for what is right, so that we may not be guilty of the sin of silence. I'm Pastor Loren, and this has been "A Word from the Vine."
