A Word from the Vine No. 55: Reconciling with Others - Insights from the Epistles of Paul

Hello, and welcome to "A Word from the Vine." In our previous episodes, we talked about how to deal with the realization that we have been wrong and how to make things right with the people we have hurt. Today, we will look at what the Apostle Paul had to say about the subject.

In his letter to the Romans, Paul writes, "If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone" (Romans 12:18). This verse teaches us that as Christians, we are called to pursue peace with everyone, even with those who have wronged us or whom we have wronged.

Paul also wrote in his letter to the Colossians, "Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you" (Colossians 3:13). This verse reminds us that forgiveness is a key component of reconciling with others. As Christians, we are called to forgive others as Christ forgave us.

In addition, Paul teaches in his letter to the Ephesians that we should not let the sun go down on our anger, but rather, we should deal with our issues with others as soon as possible (Ephesians 4:26-27). This verse emphasizes the importance of addressing issues with others in a timely manner to prevent bitterness and resentment from taking root.

Finally, in his second letter to the Corinthians, Paul writes, "So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal" (2 Corinthians 4:18). This verse reminds us that our focus should be on eternal things, not on temporal things. We should prioritize our relationships with others and work towards reconciling with them, even if it requires us to let go of temporary things.

In conclusion, the Apostle Paul provides valuable insights on how to reconcile with others. As Christians, we are called to pursue peace with everyone, forgive one another, deal with our issues in a timely manner, and prioritize our relationships with others over temporary things. May we be inspired to follow Paul's teachings and work towards reconciliation with those around us. Thank you for joining us today on "A Word from the Vine." I'm Pastor Loren Christensen of Danish Countryside Chapel.
